I have searched the internet, looking for a video that shows the basics of each weapon in UT3 for beginners. Unfortunately, none seem to exist. There are plenty of FAQ videos, and/or videos of people using the weapons, but none that I can find with an explanation for how to use each one, and what if any special capabilities they have.

With that, I am presented with a challenge which I cannot overcome. I don't have fraps and do not know how to edit video.

SO...

Could someone with skills install this map, cut down and convert this long boring demo into something that is helpful to those who have never played a UT game?

demo goes into your user \documents\my games\unreal tournament 3\utgame\demos\
map goes into your user \documents\my games\unreal tournament 3\utgame\published\cookedpc\custommaps\

the console command to play the demo is "demoplay ut3basics.demo" or you can just go to "Community" and select "Demo Playback"

Should anyone choose to accept this mission, you have my sympathy.

I currently have adobe premier pro currently installed on my computer. Although I don't have fraps installed i do have a disk lying around here somewhere. I also only have a Geforce 9400 Gt in my computer, Im going to go to my neighborhood computer to see if they have an HD 5770 for about $200 cad, otherwise the quality wont be worth wile to record.

Long story short, I will try to record and edit.

Edit: Just to make sure I am doing this right the demo will go here (I had to created a Demos folder)

Yes, those folders should work.

If you did it right, under "Community" and "Demo Playback" you should be able to see the ut3basics.demo in the list.

Also, you should be able to select and play the "DM-Dogtown" map in "Instant Action" or other DM game modes.

If you can do those two things, you can play the demo file.

It sucks, feel free to create clips or whatever you need. I just tried to get the basic point across in the demo.

Two known errors, I forgot that the demo doesn't replay the crosshair.. so the lock on rocket part might seem confusing unless you listen, and there is no redeemer on that map so I wasn't able to demonstrate it.

Ok, so i turns out that the fraps on my disk was an unregistered version... if Up wants me to still capture the footage you could give it to me.

The statistics of what we should render the final footage at should be:

I noticed that you used in game text in your demo with a whole bunch of bots running around, Thats going to be hard to clean up and present. If you like I can get plenty of different footage on different maps using all the weapons. It seems like spectating wont give a good perspective.

Yeah, you can do that. I thought of adding big text that would explain things but at least the demo gives some idea of what I think new players need to know.

Yes you can. I don't think it will allow something like a large video.. you can try it however.
